The Nitin Medical charity provides medical care and supplies to impoverished and overcrowded patient communities in India. This includes subsidizing critical prescription medicines, providing hospital supplies and funding for direct physician care. In 2009, the Nitin Medical charity donated incubators for newborns to the New Delhi hospital.
With hundreds of millions of people living below the poverty line, India is in dire need of medical funding and infrastructure. In Canada, hospital rooms typically fit two people; one for each bed. The same room in many Indian hospitals fits 16 people; four on each bed, and the rest on the floor. This is just one example of the great disparity in healthcare between the two countries we call home.
Fortunately, many interventions can be provided at very low cost and a small donation can have a significant impact – it may even save a patient’s life.
